Frontières@Brussels 2016 BREAKING NEWS: Potemkino boards project AMSTERDAM GOTHIC

BRUSSELS - Friday April 1 - Belgian production company Potemkino joined forces with the House of Netherhorror (Netherlands)  to coproduce the English language supernatural thriller AMSTERDAM GOTHIC, which was presented at this week’s Frontières International Co-Production Market in Brussels. AMSTERDAM GOTHIC was presented as part of the official Frontières project line-up at the market's 7th edition which took place during the 34th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF).

Currently budgeted at €2.5 million, AMSTERDAM GOTHIC tells the story of Australian art historian Robin Taylor who comes to Amsterdam to participate in the restauration of the paintings of an obscure 17th century Dutch master, Floris de Witte. However, she soon discovers that she is in terrible danger because the malevolent De Witte has achieved what so many artists strive for: he lives on in his work. Written and to be directed by Chris W. Mitchell, “Amsterdam Gothic” will be his second feature length film following the critically acclaimed “The Pool” (2014).

The project was pitched at Frontières by producers Jan Doense and Herman Slagter of House of Netherhorror, and writer-director Chris W. Mitchell.

Frontières@Brussels finishes today, Friday April 1, after 3 days of one-on-one meetings between 200 members of the international film industry, and the 20 selected projects from across Europe and North America. Project submissions for the 8th edition of Frontières, slated to take place July 21-24 in Montreal at the Fantasia International Film Festival, are open until April 13.
