Frontières Finance & Packaging Forum - February 2020

The Frontières Finance & Packaging Forum is a private invitational event for 12 selected projects seeking to complete their financing and advance to the production stage. 25 industry leaders are invited to meet with the selected projects over 3 days in a closed & collaborative environment. The programme of events will include roundtable strategy sessions, one-on-one meetings, and a proof of concept development lab.

Call for projects will be announced in Fall 2019.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

- projects must qualify as feature length;
- projects must qualify as “genre” in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller;
- projects must qualify as a production or co-production within North America or the European Union;
- projects must have at least 50% of their production financing confirmed;
- projects must be seeking to close their financing and have yet to enter in to production;
- both director and lead producer must be available to attend all Forum events.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- Long version of your synopsis (2 pages);
- Script;
- CVs of your Director(s), Producer(s) and other key members of your team;
- Director's intentions;
- Detailed budget & financing plan - Financing plan must include a breakdown of all contributions made by current financial partners, with copies of signed LOIs from these partners. You must also include an outline of potential strategies to close your financing gap;
-Marketing strategy (500 words);
-Distribution strategy (500 words);
-Look book & supporting visuals.

Frontières Platform in Cannes - Buyers Showcase Presentation - May 2020

Presentation of genre films in post-production, seeking sales agents. Sales agents, distributors and festival programmers are given an opportunity to discover genre films in progress.

Call for projects for the next edition will open in Winter 2020.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

- projects must qualify as feature length;
- projects must qualify as “genre” in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller;
- projects must in in a post-production stage;
- projects must be seeking sales agents or buyers;
- submissions can originate from any territory; priority will be given to submissions from North America and Europe.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- video URL link of your work-in-progress (max. 15 mins);
- long version of your synopsis (2 pages);
- look book;
- current partners letters of intent or documented proof.

Your documents can be submitted in French or English.

Please note that we do not accept unsolicited submissions for the Frontières Proof of Concept Presentation, selection for this event is made from the Forum selection or upon invitation.

International co-production Market - Fantasia international film festival, 23-26 July 2020

Over the course of 4 days at Concordia University, at the Fantasia festival headquarters, the Frontières International Co-Production Market presents 20 projects in development (10 European and 10 North American) which are presented to a large and diverse group of prominent industry professionals (producers, financiers, sales agents, distributors).

Call for projects for the next edition will start in Winter 2020.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

- projects must qualify as feature length;
- projects must qualify as “genre” in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller;
- projects must be in late development/early financing;
- submissions are open to projects from any territory, but must be actively seeking a Canadian or European co-producer, as well as a sales agent.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- Long version of your synopsis (2 pages);
- Script;
- International Co-production intentions**;
- Director's intentions;
- Detailed budget & financing plan - Financing plan must include a breakdown of all contributions made by current financial partners, with signed LOIs from these partners. You must also include an outline of how you currently plan to close your financing gap;
- Lookbook

**a summary of which particular international territories you are interested in working with, or have previously established connections with. Projects must outline the potential international angles, which should be organic to your concept, script, and budget - ie. filming locations, casting, post-production
