About Frontières

FRONTIÈRES is an international co-production market and networking platform specifically focused on genre film financing and co-production between Europe and North America. It is organised by the Fantasia International Film Festival, in partnership with the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes. Connecting filmmakers with industry professionals since 2012, Frontières has become the leading industry event entirely focused on genre cinema and produces two annual events:

Frontières Platform in Cannes brings together financiers, sales agents, distributors and festival programmers with today’s up-and-coming genre film talents and their captivating projects. The Frontières program includes two key presentations: Proof of Concept, showcasing genre film projects in advanced financing stages, and Buyers Showcase, highlighting genre film projects in the post-production stage.

Frontières International Co-production Market
, our flagship event, takes place every July in Montréal, in conjunction with the Fantasia International Film Festival. The program includes pitching sessions, one-to-one meetings, round-table networking sessions for producers, conferences addressing new trends in genre cinema and networking cocktails. Sections include the Official Selection, Genre Film Lab, Shorts to Features and Music Pitches. Our 4-day in-person industry event showcases an official selection of genre projects and facilitates connections between the selected project teams and attending industry.

Recent Frontières successes include RAW (Julia Ducournau, 2016), VIVARIUM (Lorcan Finnegan, 2019), THE LONG WALK (Mattie Do, 2019), JUMBO (Zoe Wittock, 2020), CENSOR (Prano Bailey-Bond, 2021), LAMB (Valdimar Jóhannson, 2021), HATCHIN G (Hanna Bergholm, 2022), NIGHTSIREN (Tereza Nvotova, 2022), IN FLAMES (Zarrar Khan, 2023), and U ARE THE UNIVERSE (Pavel Ostrikov, 2024).

TESTIMONIES

Frontières has quickly grown to be one of the most significant events driving high level talent forward in the genre world. It has created a genuine community amongst its participants and I've been proud to take part, finding every event not only informative and productive but also a breeding ground for new and future relationships

Todd Brown , XYZ Films, Canada-USA

The Frontières Market is one of the major ways that Fantasia International Film Festival has been setting itself apart from the dozens of other genre-focused film festivals that keep popping up around the world. Begun in 2012, Frontières aims to be like the Sundance Institute, but for artists who prefer horror and action pictures to muted family dramas and quirky comedies.
