SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
- Projects must qualify as feature length (live action or animation);
- Projects must qualify as « Genre » in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller, etc;
- Projects must be looking for a maximum of 40% gap-financing;
- Each project must have secured a minimum of 60% of its budget and provide evidence of confirmed financing. The film may be in the development phase, partially or entirely shot, but should be in the development or production phase, and projects that have already been completed will not be accepted;
- They must prominently feature Asian elements (*)
* The term “Asian elements”, is used here to encompass the following conditions: - The project team includes Asian directors, producers, cast, or crew members. - The story is set in an Asian country/region, or some of the characters are of Asian descent. - The production or post/pre-production takes place in an Asian country/region.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Full treatment or concept (approximately 8-10 pages);
Visual concept (pitch deck);
CV of your Director(s), Producer(s) and other key members of your team;
Budget Outline (in US Dollars);
Financing Plan (in US Dollars) with all relevant documents demonstrating that 60% of the budget is in place;
- All contracts, agreements and deal-memos must be signed by all parties involved, including:
Between the producer and the author or scriptwriter;
Between the producer and the director;
Between the producer and the co-producer(s), if applicable;
Between the producer and the main cast member(s) and/or agents;
Between the producer and the funders and/or financial partners listed in the financial plan;
Between the producer and the national distributor(s), if applicable;
Between the producer and the international sales agent, if applicable.
Your documents can be submitted in French or English, but fluency in English is required as the meetings will take place in English.
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
Frontières and TGFM offer the following to the participants:
Accommodation (for both the delegate producer and director);
Airfare stipend for one person
A Market badge providing access to all of the services at TIFFCOM

In return for your participation in the EFM Frontières Focus and should your film be completed, in addition to the inclusion of the Frontières logo in the end credits of the film, you acknowledge that the North American Premiere should take place at the Fantasia International Film Festival, host of the market. This request will be waived should the film be selected at any of the following film festivals: South by Southwest (SXSW), Sundance, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Tribeca or Telluride. In the event of the film screening at any of the aforementioned US festivals, Fantasia will retain first right of refusal for the film’s Canadian Premiere in the same year.
By participating, you also agree to attend the pitch session and all one-to-one meetings arranged by the TGFM office during the event, as well as completing the post-event survey.
Pitching sessions and meetings will be held in English. No translation services will be provided. Selected project team key members must be able to converse comfortably in English.
